Despite the rain, a sea of pink brightened the landscape of the 15th annual CIBC’s Run for the Cure event at Cambrian College on Oct. 6. The moody weather seemed to increase the attendance at this year’s event, as 1,100 people were registered to run, said the run's co-director, Stephanie Koett. The event raised a total of $294,216.31.
Passion Fitness and Dance Studio opened on Sept. 3 and in only three weeks pole fit clients, Tamara Brandt and Tammy Hunt, have literally seen their fitness level climb. Brandt and Hunt have tried every type of workout and said they were looking for a different approach to fitness. They thought the pole fit classes offered at Passion looked interesting.

Former-student-turned-director of the Sudbury Youth Orchestra, Jamie Arrowsmith, knows firsthand that music can really take you places. He, along with 20 of his orchestra students and 20 of their parents, embarked on an English tour from June 29 to July 11, which saw them play five concerts in five cities in 12 days.
The eighth annual “Pull for the Cure” event, put on by the ladies of the Walden Slo-Pitch League, celebrated raising more than $100,000 by releasing 100 pink balloons into the sky over the Oja Sports Complex on Sept. 7. “We’ve had a record number of donations — over $1,000 this year,” said event organizer Nancy Hryciw.
